Have you ever been to Sandy Hook, New Jersey? I’ll be honest—I haven’t spent much time there before, but after this recent engagement shoot, I’m definitely adding it to my go-to locations. This session was such a vibe! We set out to capture that dreamy, beachy energy with golden hour light melting into the ocean, and I’ve got to say—it turned out beautifully.

The couple brought their own personal style, which I always love to see. She wore a flowing, romantic dress that played perfectly with the breeze, and he kept it laid-back and classic. At first, they were a little camera-shy (which is totally normal), but I always tell my clients—being in front of a camera takes time to warm up. A little patience, a little coaching, and before you know it, you’re looking like a natural. That’s part of the magic of engagement sessions—watching people truly relax and be themselves.

Sandy Hook is a hidden gem for any engagement photographer in New Jersey. It's got everything—pristine beach views, both ocean and bay access, charming dunes, historical buildings, and even a lighthouse at Fort Hancock. There’s so much to explore, and as a photographer, the options are endless. It’s definitely a must-visit for couples looking for a romantic, coastal setting.

For this shoot, I went with a minimal gear setup—just my Canon R5, my go-to 28–70mm f/2 lens, and one AD200 Pro flash for fill light. I love the flexibility of this setup, especially when working in natural light situations like sunset on the beach. It allows me to stay nimble and keep the focus on the couple and their connection.

Thanks again for the love and support—see you at the next shoot!
