A Rustic and Joyful Wedding at Waterloo Village in New Jersey

Now this wedding was fun! I’m talking “My Big Fat Greek” Wedding type of energy in the best way possible. I’ve always heard that Greek weddings are lively, emotional, and full of celebration, but honestly, I had never experienced one firsthand until Ashley and Kamil’s wedding day. And let me tell you, it did not disappoint.

A little backstory here: I’m a nurse practitioner by trade, and Ashley happens to be one of the best nurses I work with. She has always been one of those people who is easy to talk to, fun to be around, and genuinely kind. So when she asked if I would photograph her wedding, the answer was an easy yes.

Ashley and Kamil celebrated their wedding at Waterloo Village in New Jersey, and if you’ve never been there, it is definitely worth checking out. It has that rustic, laid-back, historic charm that makes it such a beautiful setting for a wedding day. From the open space to the natural scenery, it gave us so many great opportunities for candid wedding photos, portraits, and those quiet in-between moments that really tell the story of the day.

As always, I had the dream team with me. My videographer, Alberto Medal, was there capturing the motion and emotion of the day. My second shooter, Eric Coleman, was with Kamil and the groomsmen, making sure we had full coverage from both sides of the wedding party. And of course, my creative director, Sophia Hockman, was there keeping everything moving and making sure we all stayed on point.

The morning started with the bridal party getting ready, and the energy was already high. The girls were hype, excited, and ready to celebrate Ashley. You could tell right away that this was going to be a fun group. Once hair and makeup were finished, we made our way to Waterloo Village to officially get the day started.

From there, everything flowed beautifully. Ashley and Kamil shared their first look, and then Ashley had a first look with her father, which was such a special moment to witness. The ceremony itself was absolutely beautiful. No lie, I’m pretty sure a few guests were holding back tears. It was emotional, heartfelt, and filled with so much love from both families.

After the ceremony, it was time to party. And this reception had energy. The food was on point, the venue took great care of everyone, and Ashley and Kamil were able to let loose and truly enjoy themselves. Those are the moments I love most as a wedding photographer, when couples are fully present, laughing, dancing, and just being themselves.

That’s really what wedding photography is all about for me. Yes, we’ll get the portraits and the details, but the magic is in the real moments. The hugs, the tears, the dancing, the quiet looks, and everything in between.
